Spicy Handallo Mixed Potato and Murunga Fried Rice

Recipe Serves: 4 | Preparation Time: 20 Minutes | Cooking Time: 10 Minutes


Knorr seasoning powder 7.5g 1pack

Cooked rice 400g

Handello cleaned 150g

Grated potato 1no

Onion chopped ½ no

Garlic chopped 1 clove

Flour ½ cup

Turmeric ½ tbsp

Chili powder ½ tbsp

Chili pieces 1 tbsp

Water to mix

Oil to deep fry

Margarine 20g

Moringa leaves a handful

Salt and pepper to taste


1. In a bowl add flour, turmeric, chili powder and mix with water gradually to make a smooth batter. Now dip the hendello in batter and deep fry till golden. Then cut it into small pieces

2. In a separate pan, melt margarine. Add onion, garlic and sauté till fragrant. Now add potato. And sauté for further 2 minutes. Now add the hendello, Chili pieces, Knorr seasoning powder and mix well. Finally add cook rice and mix well again

3. Finally add the moringa leaves. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve hot
